Add A Double Oven to Your Kitchen Remodel

When it comes time to renovate your old kitchen and turn it into the cooking and eating room of your dreams, you should think about not only adding features that look good, but ones that seriously increase the convenience and ease of cooking. Cooking is a wonderful way to pass the time, bring the family together, and save money over the cost of eating out. Kitchens are the most used rooms of the house, and with good reason.

One feature that has become popular in kitchen remodels is the double oven. If you have an oven cabinet, a single space can often be turned into a double one. Now, if you’ve never spent very much time cooking you may see a second oven as an unnecessary extravagance. But anyone who’s ever had to oversee a large meal with multiple dishes realizes the tremendous convenience that comes with a second oven. If, for instance, you want to serve roast with scalloped potatoes and rolls, then you have a problem. The roast, the potatoes and the rolls all have to be baked, probably at different temperatures. Putting all three of them on the table together, hot and fully done, can be a challenge. A double oven gives you greater flexibility in cooking more than one dish at the same time. Another option is to keep one oven on warm and place dishes inside it as they are ready.

Choosing a double oven over a single may not cost you much more than you were already planning on paying. Talk to a contractor to determine the feasibility of it for your kitchen, as well as the additional cost. You may be able to make one of them a convection oven, which will give you even more flexibility in what you cook and how quickly.
