The Chinese New Year – the most important of traditional Chinese holidays – begins tonight on January 22nd (New Year’s Eve) and lasts through February 2. This year is the legendary Year of the Dragon – synonymous with power and wealth (via Wikipedia).
Traditional activities include the decorating of doorframes and windows with red paper-cuts (sometimes referred to “chuāng huā” meaning Window Flower) and couplets scribed with good luck wishes. The festivities feature feasts of traditional Chinese food and visiting friends and neighbors with presents.
